ADA Policy for Patient Care

Purpose
Pearl White Dentistry is committed to providing equitable, respectful, and accessible dental care to all patients, including those with disabilities. This policy ensures compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and promotes an inclusive environment for individuals with physical, sensory, intellectual, and emotional disabilities.
Policy Statement
Pearl White Dentistry will not discriminate against any individual on the basis of disability. All staff members are trained to accommodate patients with disabilities and provide services in the most effective, inclusive manner.
Reasonable Accommodations
Pearl White Dentistry will provide reasonable accommodations to patients with disabilities, including but not limited to:
- Wheelchair-accessible entrances, exam rooms, and restrooms
- Assistive communication tools such as writing materials, speech boards, or interpretation services
- Scheduling modifications to allow for longer appointment times
- Assistance with mobility or paperwork completion when requested
- Use of service animals in accordance with federal guidelines
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome at Pearl White Dentistry. Staff will not ask about the nature of a person's disability, but may ask if the animal is a service animal required because of a disability and what task it is trained to perform.
Communication Support
Pearl White Dentistry will ensure effective communication with patients who have vision, hearing, speech, or cognitive impairments. This may include:
- Providing printed materials in large print or plain language
- Offering clear, written post-care instructions
- Allowing caregivers or interpreters to be present during visits
Training and Compliance
All staff will receive regular training on ADA compliance, disability etiquette, and how to provide respectful, patient-centered care to individuals with diverse needs.
